Narcissists demand respect though they do not give it.
They twist your defence response into accusations of attacks.
Loyalty to them is paramount.
If the victim challenges the behaviour of the Narcissist they are told they are not respecting the Narcissist.
Every defence is met with a screaming match of not being respected.
Long term the victim is left feeling guilty about their own behaviour.
Because the Narcissist can be nice spasmodically, this puts the victim off balance, expecting things to change and convincing the victim they do love each other until the next cycle of psychological and emotional abuse takes place.
This cycle of abuse is emotionally and physically exhausting and prematurely ages the victim long term.
