Relationship Issues

Relationship Issues

Often in relationships, one person will be telling their partner there are issues in the relationship and they want to go to relationship counselling with them, however, their partner tells them they are happy so the issue must be them. They’re the ones with the problem, so they need to get help to sort themselves out and fix themself and when they do, the relationship will be better.

How do you think the partner feels who is seeking to improve their relationship when their partner refuses to support them?

It leaves the partner who isn’t happy feeling unsupported, not heard, valued or a priority.

This can go on for 10 years with one partner not feeling heard or supported until they begin to pull away from their partner emotionally, physically and in their communication.

They may start going out socially and becoming more independent from their partner until they become two complete strangers living under one roof.

It may take all of this for the other partner to realise they need professional help in their relationship, by which time the other partner is ready to separate.

Do not wait until this point to get support. The moment your partner communicates they want professional help for the relationship, even if you don’t think it’s needed, listen to your partner and support them.

When your partner no longer cares about the relationship, this is a red flag you both need professional support.
