Most common issues in relationships

Most common issues in relationships that I see couples with are:

No.1. Communication.

No.2. Conflict management.

Conflict has many parts which are addressed below.

a. Talking over each other.
b. Not listening to understand.
c. Someone has to always be right.
d. The same person backs down.
e. Disrespect.
f. Contempt.
g. Name-calling.
h. Criticism.
I. Yelling and screaming.
j. Blaming.
k. Deflection.
l. Justification.
m. Bringing up the past.
n. Attacking partner’s character.
o. Judgement.
p. Undermining.
q. Gaslighting.
r. Not taking responsibility.
j. Stonewalling.
k. Chasing after the partner who walks away to demand answers.
l. Silent treatment to punish.

All of the above adds to emotional and physical disconnection even to the degree of one couple becoming two separate people sleep in two separate beds and living two separate lives.

This style of relationship is not sustainable. Inevitably the relationship has an expiry date unless both people in the relationship agree to Couples Counselling to learn the skills and tools needed to begin repairing the relationship.
