In relationships, couples often give their partner what they themselves need to feel loved without asking their partner what it is they need to feel loved or they think they know what it is they need to feel loved but they keep missing the mark because what you’re doing for them isn’t exactly what they need.
E.g. let’s say your partner loved Sunflowers but you continued to give her Roses. You knew she loved flowers so you thought you were making her feel loved but what really made your partner feel loved was Sunflowers because it reminded her of her childhood.
Or maybe your partner’s favourite meal was a roast and so you kept making him roast chicken as a special meal for him but he actually longed for roast lamb because his mother made it for the family when he was growing up as a Sunday roast.
To meet your partner’s needs conversations need to take place around the subject of making the other feel loved.
