When Love Still Lives in the Distance

There’s a silence that settles between two people long before words stop being spoken.

It’s not anger or indifference.

It’s the soft ache of what once was.

You can feel it as you move around each other. Touch reminds you of what is lost.

You still do small things for each other.

From the outside it still looks like love. It’s just quieter, lonlier and worn around the edges.

You still laugh at the same things, but from separate seats in the living room. The laughter never quite lands where it used to. Even your affection has changed.

As you walk past each other your hand brushes, instead of being held.

At night in bed, there is a river of space between you that neither of you are brave enough to cross.

You remember all the times you couldn’t fall asleep without holding each other.

And yet you stay because you still believe in the possibility of finding your way back.

Love in its silence still breathes.

It waits – patient, bruised, and tender – for the moment one of you turns over and whispers, “Are you still awake?”

Finding Our Way Back

Relationships need “remembering.”

Remembering what being seen and heard felt like.

Remembering the laughter that came easily. The touch that came naturally and the words that felt safe.

To find your way back, you just need to show up. Truly seeing each other. The way you use to in the beginning.

Start with the smallest bridge.

Sit beside each other, instead of across from each other.

Touch your partner’s hand intentionally without pulling away.

Add the words “I miss you.”

Show vulnerability.

Finding your way back just needs one person to ask the question,

“I still want this. Do you?”

If you are ready to find your way back to each other but you don’t know how, I can help you find your way back. The first step is to click on the link below for a booking today.
