Communication in Relationships

Communication isn’t just about verbal communication.

It is also verbal, physical and body language.

If one person does not feel emotionally safe to communicate because of being dismissed, shutdown, talked over, feelings not validated or their feelings used against them, or being shouted and screamed at, they will stop communicating and will withdraw emotionally and physically.

Defensive behaviours will stop your partner from communicating.

To resolve issues listening without judgement needs to take place.

It is better to listen to understand rather than thinking about the next word you can get in.

Listening creates trust, friendship and your emotional connection.
