Fear In Relationships

Fear In Relationships

Fear can play an active part in any relationship, causing conflict, disrespect, contempt, jealousy, control, causing each other to walk away.

Aggression can disguise the fear of not being enough to your partner.

The fear you can’t provide for your family.

It can be the fear of change.

The fear of having to make changes for your partner such as not drinking, smoking, gambling or looking at porn anymore. Fear of the unknown such as “can I achieve this?” can be a very scary place to be.

The fear of conflict. Couples who naturally avoid conflict or are afraid of their partner’s reaction and response will be scared to raise any issues, and instead push down the problems while secretly resenting their partner.

There can be the fear of being found out. It might be fear around addictions, an affair past or present, gambling etc. This can cause a person to have a short fuse.

Fear can come from fear of losing identity in the relationship.

One person may have to constantly put their partner first while their needs continue to go unmet.

There’s the fear of rejection. The fear of not being good enough for their partner, their partner’s family or even their own family.

There is also the fear of feeling responsible for their partner for the rest of their lives they are together.

This can feel overwhelming and daunting.
